Brain Workout? Yes, with a Balance Exercise Flow (video)

For this video, grab 1-kilo dumbbell and a broomstick or a band.

Do not worry if you do not have them, you can do the exercise without them as well. It will still be effective.

We will do a flow of exercises, meaning we do a certain number of repetitions of one exercise, then add another move, and another move.

These exercises will help you work on your body posture, your balance, and your core muscles.

Why do we need to improve our balance?

1 – Prevent injuries

Just one sprained ankle and you will stay with crutches for weeks, and your only workout will be the physiotherapy.

Not fun! By age, the risk of osteoporosis increases, therefore balance becomes more important.

2 – Improve your fitness and performance

When you work on your balance, you work on improving the control of muscle groups that may have been dormant from years of sitting and leaning.

(Re-)learning how to work your muscles synergistically will prevent back or other pain and strengthen your muscles.

It will improve your posture, agility, quicker reaction times, and overall workout performance.

3 – Balance improves brain function

When working out for your balance, you are challenging areas in your brain that benefit the functioning of your brain as a whole.

Here is an interesting study about how mental functioning has improved after six months of strength training.
