Islam is a practical way, and there’s the Divine justice manifest in that.
Allah has not made our salvation dependent on complex logic chopping. If that were the case, then you’d have to be a member of Mensa (high IQ society) in order to enter paradise and that is not the Divine intention.
Instead He has said that at the Last Day:
The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children. But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart. (Quran 26:88-89)
It is the heart that is the basis of our human engagement with the Absolute. And the capacity of the heart to approach the absolute is not determined by any genetic predispositions. In other words, anybody can be saved: smart or stupid, male, female, whatever language you might speak…
The universality of Islam reflects the universality of the Divine intention that everyone has the chance of salvation and conforming to the original model of man.
How are we to do this?
Living by the Light of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
Well, the meaning of “Muhammad Rasul Allah” is precisely that we have to configure ourselves in a certain way if that heart is to be worthy of the Divine acceptance.
If we’d run work things out for ourselves, we’re like people bumping around in a cellar in the dark; we don’t know where we’re going.
We might be able to create some kind of lifestyle for ourselves, but it will be full of suffering, full of misunderstanding, and it won’t be very good for social cohesion, as they say nowadays.
But instead, we need some kind of light, we need to be able to open our eyes and to see. And we can’t do that unless there is light, we have the capacity to see, but unless the light is present, we won’t be able to operationalize it.
