Watford FC Opens Stadium for Muslim Family Fun Day

Watford FC opened its stadium Sunday to host a family fun day organized by a Watford Muslim youth trust for people from all walks of life to foster a sense of togetherness and promote cultural exchange in the community.

The event, held at Vicarage Road home, aimed to bring the local community together for a day of fun-filled activities.

More than 5000 people joined the event, perfectly showcasing the community’s enthusiasm for coming together, Watford FC website reported.

“As an organization deeply rooted in the community, we are thrilled to have hosted such a successful Family Fun Day,” said Zahid Zarin, Chairman for Watford Muslim Youth Centre Trust (WMYCT).

“Our aim was to create an environment where people from all backgrounds could come together, enjoy themselves, and strengthen the community spirit. The event was a testament to the power of unity and the shared values that bind us all.”

Prayer on the Pitch

The stadium offered a feast of activities engaging all age groups. At the time of Dhuhr prayer, Imran Khan from WMYCT recited the adhan as men and women lined on the pitch to perform the congregational prayer.

WMYCT also expressed gratitude to Watford Police, the Fire Station, My Wellbeing W3RT, Watford Women’s Centre, Everyone Active, Abbey Badminton Club, Beezee Bodies, the community, local businesses and all the volunteers and club staff who dedicated their time and effort to make the Family Fun Day a resounding success.

“The Family Fun Day at Watford Football Club exceeded our expectations in terms of attendance and the positive impact it had on the community. We are grateful for the support and collaboration from our partners and the entire community,” Imran Khan, Secretary Trustee of Watford Muslim Youth Centre, said.

Dave Messenger, EDI Lead for Watford Football Club, added: “We were delighted to host the Family Fun Day with our partners from the Watford Muslim Youth Centre Trust and to see that so many people enjoyed the event. We look forward to further opportunities to work with the Trust in the future and value their support for our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion work at Watford FC.”

This is not the first event by Watford FC to encourage community outreach.

Earlier this year, the club held two iftar events at Vicarage Road stadium during Ramadan where more than 200 people attended the two evenings.

Many similar iftar events have taken place this year, such as the one held at Shakespeare’s Globe theaterSouthwark Cathedral, also at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium and the Royal Albert Hall.
