Islamic Relief Volunteers Spread Holiday Cheers

For many people, the winter months are a time when they put on warm clothes to brave the colder weather. For millions of others, the same winter months, and the same winter weather is a question of survival.

Despite the cold weather this week, volunteers from Islamic Relief USA worked in partnership with the New York City Mayor’s Office of Special Projects and Community Events to pack more than 500 holiday gift bags with toys, books, and activities on Wednesday.

“For years now IRUSA has helped families in #NYC through hot meals, cash assistance, food pantry support, and other vital services.”

In another effort earlier on Monday, IRUSA volunteers hosted a pop-up food pantry at the Liberty Ave Plaza in cooperation with Ozone Park Civilian Patrol.

Islamic Relief is an international humanitarian organization which provides aid, food security, and orphan support to people after natural disasters.

Several Muslim groups and Islamic centers across the United States have been working hard to help the less fortunate mark holiday seasons with comfort and happiness.

Earlier this week, the Michigan Muslim Community Council (MMCC) kicked off a campaign to distribute gifts and toys to help children mark holidays.

Many Islamic charities have also launched appeals to help the vulnerable during difficult time of winter.
