14m Muslims Have Visited Prophet’s Mosque So Far This Ramadan

More than 14 million Muslims have visited the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah since the start of Ramadan, hitting new records of the number of visitors after two year of COVID restrictions.

The Presidency of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah announced that the mosque has received about 14,772.46 worshipers, Saudi Gazette reported.

The report informed that as many as 944,355 visitors and worshipers have also visited the Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifa during the holy month of fasting.

Ramadan is the holiest month in Islamic calendar when Muslims fast from dawn to sunset.

Muslims dedicate their time during the holy month to become closer to Allah through prayer, self-restraint and good deeds.

The Adviser and Under-General for Executive and Field Affairs Abdulaziz al-Ayoubi said that “doubled efforts” have been exerted to host the millions of visitors who flocked to the place of worship.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) established his mosque in the city of Madinah. It’s the 3rd mosque built in history and is now one of the largest mosques in the world.

The mosque is the second holiest site in Islam, after the Great Mosque in Makkah and both are major pilgrimage sites.

The site was originally adjacent to Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) house where he settled after migrating from Makkah to Madinah in 622.

Taqwa – Living the Main Purpose of Ramadan

Taqwa is a major purpose for the month of Ramadan. The people of taqwa are those who do the things that they are commanded and avoid the things which Allah has made prohibitive. And evidently, to reach a state of taqwa requires vigilance, it requires patience and sincerity.
