Muslim Teen Helps Police Arrest Man Who Attacked Jewish Woman on Subway

What an amazing bravery from a Muslim teen! He helped the police catch a suspect.

The teenager is from Brooklyn, and has helped police arrest a man who attacked an Orthodox Jewish woman on the subway, ABC NY reported.

“He was all the way in the back and I was just looking at him like, knocking, and I was like, ‘I see you, you can’t hide, you coward,'” said Ahmed Khalifa, a Flatbush resident.

Khalifa, 17, was riding the Q-train in Brooklyn Tuesday night around 7 when 31-year-old Rayvon Jones punched a woman in the face.

“She was dressed, like religiously, you could just tell she was Jewish, and I’m Muslim. And people were just confused like, you just helped a Jewish lady, like wow. It has nothing to do with the fact that she’s Jewish. I just helped a lady,” Khalifa said.

The Muslim teen, whose family is from Sudan, followed Jones five blocks from the subway station. He later saw him hop on the B68. He called police who arrested him at Coney Island Avenue and Avenue M.

“It was very wrong, you can’t do that. I just hope he gets punished longer because he deserves to stay in jail,” Khalifa said.

What young Khalifa did falls in line with similar heroic acts from some other Muslims, especially with regard to Jewish people.

In November 2019, a Muslim woman stepped in to confront a man over his anti-Semitic rant at a Jewish father and son on the London underground.

Another young American Muslim student showed bravery in December 2019 after she opened the doors of her mosque as a shelter, enabling more than 100 students to flee a high school stabbing in Wisconsin.
