Islamic Relief Kicks off Annual Charity Week

Laying greater emphasis on unity, Islamic Relief kicked off its annual charity week in seven countries across the world to help orphaned and vulnerable children.

“A staggering 1 in 5 children worldwide live in extreme poverty, and that’s why Charity Week is still so important!” Islamic Relief UK wrote on its website.

“Running from 25th to 31st October, this yearly week of action is the time when we call on YOU to get fundraising to help children in need.”

Charity Week is organized by Islamic Relief, an international humanitarian organization. It provides aid, food security, and orphan support to people after natural disasters.

This year it runs under the slogan “We Are One Body”, encouraging volunteers to join fundraising events or challenges to raise money.

10K Steps Challenge

A key challenge for this year is the “10K Step Challenge”, encouraging people to join thousands worldwide who will take10,000 steps a day for seven days.

Other challenges in Canada for example include the “Take to the Sky”, a sky diving event, and “National Scavengers Hunt.”

For the past 17 years, communities & campuses have been coming together from across the world, promoting the vision of unity and undertaking a week of united fundraising for orphans and children in need.

What started as a vision in the year 2000 has expanded over years to include UK, USA, Canada, Qatar, Germany, Australia, and finally South Africa.

Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is an international humanitarian organization that provides development programs and humanitarian relief around the globe, regardless of race, political affiliation, gender or belief.
