UK Mosque Provides Safe Haven from Heatwave

A local mosque in North West England has opened its doors to offer a cool sanctuary for people escaping the heatwave.

The announcement came as UK experienced extreme heat this week. The UK Health Security Agency issued a level 4 heat-health alert while Met Office issued its first red extreme heat warning.

Makki Masjid mosque, in Longsight, Manchester, invited the public to take a break from hot weather and enjoy the air conditioned space, itv News reported.

The mosque also offered free bottled water on both Monday and Tuesday, from 1pm until 10pm.

“Being the hub of our community here in Longsight, we see it as our responsibility to look after our neighbors,” a spokesperson from the mosque said.

“Islam encourages and places great importance and emphasis in looking after neighbours, especially in such difficult times.”

St Mary’s Church, in Worsley, has also opened its doors to public.

Temperatures have already been broken in the North West on Monday, with Nantwich, in Cheshire, reaching 37°C.

Islam requires all neighbors to be loving and cooperative with one another, sharing their sorrows and happiness.

It also enjoins that they should establish social relations in which one can depend upon the other and regard his life, honor, and property safe among his neighbors.

Taqwa – Living the Main Purpose of Ramadan

Taqwa is a major purpose for the month of Ramadan. The people of taqwa are those who do the things that they are commanded and avoid the things which Allah has made prohibitive.
