When is Hajj? When do the ceremonial practices of Hajj take place? We do not go by the Gregorian calendar in Islam. Hajj is in the 12th month of the Islamic calendar in the month of Dhul-Hijjah.
Hajj takes place in the first 10 days of this month. As Allah says in the Quran 7:142 “And we have given Musa 30 nights and then we completed it with 10.” Some scholars say that these 10 nights are the first 10 nights of Dhul-Hijjah.
Hajj starts on the 9th day of Dhul-Hijjah all the way to the 13th. On the 10th day it is Eid and on this day we offer the sacrifice as remembrance to Prophet Ibrahim when he was going to sacrifice his son at the command of Allah.
