Quran Recitation – Surah Al-Hijr (verse 16 to 23)

This is a very touching recitation by Mohamed Siddiq El-Minshawi of surah number 15: “al-Hijr” (The Rock or The Rocky Tract).

He was a beloved reciter, writer and quranic teacher from Upper Egypt, he specialized in teaching children.

The way he recited Quran used to make people cry as his voice trembled and had this peculiar shaking sound that reminded you of someone who is about to cry.

His voice and tone are affecting, and even if you don’t understand Arabic, you would be able to “feel” the words and his love for Quran while closing your eyes inshaAllah.

He died at the age of 49, Inna Lillaahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’oun (We surely belong to Allah and to Him we shall return)

The 8 verses in this video are translated here under:

16. We placed constellations in the sky, and made them beautiful to the beholders.

17. And We guarded them from every outcast devil.

18. But if any (devil) gains a hearing by stealth, and pursued by a visible projectile (flaming fire)

19. We spread the Earth, and placed stabilizers (mountains) in it, and in it We grew all things in proper measure.

20. And in it We created livelihoods (means of subsistence) for you, and for those for whom you are not the providers.

21. And there is not a thing but its (sources and) treasures (inexhaustible) are with Us; and We send it down only in precise measure.

22. We send the fertilizing winds; and send down water from the sky, and give it to you to drink, and you are not the ones who store it.

23. It is We who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritors. (after all else passes away).
