Our sister Lauren Booth is talking about the expanding hatred towards religions and especially Islam.
Nowadays there is a continuous interference in our beliefs, and especially in the Westerns societies.
Although advocating for a pluralistic society, our environment is normalizing more and more attacks based on our religious differences, gender etc.
These microaggresions are done on a daily basis and we have to learn how to recognize them in order to protect ourselves and put a stop to that.
She says: “When I put on the hijab, I lost my white prerogative.”
Indeed it is fair to say that most of us, who are now visible Muslims, have experienced these attacks.
Sister Lauren’s message is short and to the point.
Having a peaceful dialogue is a must in Islam; but we need 2 things:
First is to be firm in our beliefs.
Secondly it is to be aware of the sneaky ways used by Islam’s detractors.
Finally, you don’t always have to fight fire with fire, you just need to be smarter.
May Allah make us determined and steadfast in our Deen, ameen.
