A Canadian Muslim group has thanked Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over his announcement of a $25 million package of aid in response to the humanitarian crisis in Palestine.
“Thousands of Canadians from across the country wrote in to the Prime Minister to draw his attention to the urgent and critical need for humanitarian aid for Palestinians, and for sustainable measures that tackle the root of this crisis,” Fatema Abdalla, National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) Communications Coordinator said in a statement published on Muslim Link.
“This package is a step in the right direction to uplift the people of Palestine from the devastation they faced after Israeli forces attacked several civilian targets in Gaza and the West Bank.”

Trudeau promised the funding in a news release Friday, adding that it will go directly to experienced organizations that will help the most vulnerable Palestinian civilians cope after the conflict.
“The recent violence in the region is alarming — we have all seen the disturbing images of displaced civilians, loss of life and pain inflicted on families,” Trudeau said.
Canada’s aid will include $10 million for urgent food assistance, shelter, water, sanitation and hygiene, as well as psychosocial support for children. Another $10 million will go toward humanitarian and rebuilding efforts, such as vital medical infrastructure.
