How to Calm Anxiety? Leave the Future Alone Until it Comes

Image
In our minds, we live most of our lives in the future. Afraid of the Future? 4 Ways to Combat Anxiety But thinking too much about the future is like buying furniture for a house that has not yet been built. Then when the furniture is in our possession, we have no place to put it, and it crowds our life in the present. In other words, we fill our days with thought, concern, anticipation and anxiety with a tomorrow we may never see. We Rush to the Future for the Good it may Hold As children, we are eager to be older so that we can be one of the “big kids”. As teenagers, we cannot wait to be adults and free from our parents’ restrictions. As adults, we dream about retirement when we will be able to enjoy all our free time. As human beings, we have a tendency to rush to the future for the good we perceive to be there. But we are not guaranteed tomorrow , nor are we guaranteed anything from it. Debunking the Belly Button Oil Myth

Image
One of the key characteristics of the Islamic faith is living according to evidence sought from the Qur’an and Sunnah. However, that isn’t our only source of evidence. In almost every aspect of our lives, we seek evidence from the experts in their various fields regarding our day-to-day lives. Allah has enshrined this principle in the Qur’an when He said, “Ask the people of knowledge if you do not know” (Surat An-Nahl 16:43) . Read Also: Harmony in Allah’s Universe Muslims don’t gravitate, however, towards any of the pseudoscience that we see in the world today. For example, we may respect homeopathy as a field of healing that has been around for a long time and that may have some benefits, but we should look at it objectively. A German man called Samuel Hahnemann founded homeopathy. He believed that ‘like cures like’—in other words, an illness is cured by that which causes it. [1] But it’s important, as time progresses and new knowledge becomes available, that people relinquis...

Tips to Maintain Sincerity in Good Deeds

A questioner asks how do you maintain sincerity in good deeds without other worldly things motivating you as well? First and foremost we should monitor our heart to make sure that it is pure. Then we should make dua to Allah. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) told us to seek refuge in Allah from any type of showing off. It is very important to make sure that you have a lot of private good deeds as well. The majority of your good deeds should be private. Make sure your voluntary prayers are done privately. Give charity in private. If you help a good friend don’t post it all over social media saying that you have done so. This should be done for the sake of Allah not for you to show off in front of others. All of these tips will make your good deeds more and more sincere.
